Publishing the Truth

I was wandering the aisles of a bookstore this weekend and saw a table labled, “Books that Make You Think.” In the mix of about 40 titles there was one from a Christian worldview.  As frustrating as it is that only one Christian book would be placed on this table, the even more urgent concern is that we insure there are always books that present Truth as an alternative to all the self help, new age, options our world offers.

As we look toward the ICRS this next week, I am posting again two thoughts I posted when I first began this blog, for I am convinced that we as Christian publishers and retailers are doing more than business. We are involved in business as mission, God’s mission.

As Christian publishers and retailers, we must be successful in the task God has assigned us. A lost world needs access to content that lifts the name of Jesus.  If we are not completely committed to success and to making Christian content available to the world, many may never know God loves them. I believe in New Hope’s mission and I am convinced we are involved in kingdom work.

As Christian publishers and authors, our content has to be transformational. Whether it is a humorous book, a Bible study, a devotional, or fiction, it has to reveal Truth, who God is, and what He has done in Jesus Christ. I am thankful for authors who partner with New Hope to encourage readers toward a radical commitment to Christ.

Christ himself wrote it—not with ink, but with God’s living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives—and we publish it. 2 Corinthians 3:3 (The Message)
